Healthier Cocktail Recipe Recommendations:
It almost doesn’t matter the time of year. Holidays, vacations, work functions, celebrations…alcohol is everywhere. And while we don’t believe daily drinking is bets for your health, we do know y gotta live life and have a little fun. But how do you enjoy when it also brings on feelings of stress if you don’t know how to blend healthy eating/drinking with social enjoyment? We think the answer is healthier cocktail recipes!
Alcohol is a well-known toxin. it triggers dopamine which is an addictive brain chemical. It also negatively impacts sleep. Too much can damage the lining of the intestinal tract, allowing bacteria to pass through and result in inflammation. However, we understand the importance of social gatherings; there’s room for alcohol if you already have a healthy foundation. We also know that if we say “no alcohol allowed” some of you will run for the hills!
Here are some “healthier” cocktail recipe recommendations. Keep in mind, they are not healthy when you multiply by 5…but you know this 😉 Aim to limit your drinks to 1-2 per special occasion.
Sunny Winter Day:
An immune-boosting drink to brighten a winter day! Clementines and lemons add vitamin C so you can fight off germs while you enjoy your cocktail. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary to get that evergreen smell of the season.
- Granulated Swerve or Lakanto Monk Fruit
- Juice of 2 clementines
- Juice of ½ lemon
- ½ oz triple sec
- 1½ oz vodka
- Sprig of rosemary
Moisten the rim of your glass with water. Turn glass upside down to coat with sweetener (optional). Mix together fruit juices, triple sec and vodka, shake well and pour over ice. Garnish with rosemary sprig.
This just tastes like fall! It’s great to make if you’re hosting a party.
- 1 bottle white wine
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1 cup soda water
- ½ cup vodka
- 1 cup chopped organic apples
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 orange chopped
- Cinnamon sticks
Mix all ingredients together and pour over ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
- Juice of one small lemon
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1½ oz gin
- 3-4 oz soda water
- Fresh rosemary sprigs
Mix all ingredients together, except soda water. Pour over ice, top with soda water, stir and garnish with rosemary sprig.
